The pleasure of a slower walk
A familiar walk changes with the season. Leaves gather against a low wall, a puddle reflects a different patch of sky, and a gate that is usually closed stands open. The route stays the same while its details keep moving.
Walking slowly gives those details time to become visible. It also changes the scale of a journey. A few streets can feel spacious when the purpose is simply to notice what is there.
There is pleasure in returning by the same path. The light will have shifted, and the place will already be slightly different.
